Wild About Norfolk was founded in 2000 by David and Christine Cannon from the RSPB Norwich Local Group. Since its humble beginnings in a village hall, Wild About Norfolk has grown to be one of Norfolk’s main wildlife events of the year. Celebrities who have participated in the event include: Chris Packham, Nick Baker, Chris Mead (BTO), Carol Bundock (BBC), Julie Reinger (BBC).
This fantastic event came into existence because of several like-minded individuals from the RSPB Norwich local Group in 2000. Their idea was to showcase conservation organisations and celebrate the wildlife and environment of Norfolk by holding a free annual event open to the public, aimed at families and young people in particular. From then it has gone from strength to strength, attracting around 1,000 people each year and over 40 local and national exhibitors. Today the event is organised by a group of volunteers from several different organisations and backgrounds, with the common goal of raising the profile of Norfolk's very special natural heritage and those who work to preserve it.
Wild About Norfolk is an independent charity and therefore we rely on donations, charitable trusts and local sponsorship to run the event each year. Please contact Ellen Chestney if you are interested in contributing to a very worthwhile event so we can keep it free!'
